Since the coronavirus crisis, working from home has become here to stay. But it can sometimes be a bit challenging with children running around and the cat snoring on your keyboard.
Here are 10 handy tips to improve your home working set-up:
- Make a clear distinction between your workspace and your living spaces.
- Take regular breaks and move around, so you don't stay glued to your laptop all day.
- Invest in good ergonomic equipment such as a comfortable office chair, a laptop stand, a compact external keyboard and an ergonomic mouse.
- Position your screen and desk at right angles to the incoming light and make sure there's enough natural light in the room.
- Adjust the brightness of your screen to the natural daylight.
- Don't sit staring at a dull wall: leave at least 2 metres between your desk and the wall, or make sure you have a view outside.
- Alternate between sitting and standing while you work. Use a kitchen island, a mid-height cabinet or a sit-stand desk, for example!
- Stay in touch with colleagues, friends and family.
- Exercise and stay active.
- Wash your hands regularly and alternate between sitting, standing and moving.
And if the cat is asleep on your keyboard, give it a quick stroke and kindly ask it to lie down somewhere else. :-)
